Your Guide to Using BCC for Private Emailing
Need to send a copy of an email to someone without the other recipients knowing? That’s exactly what BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) is for! It's the perfect tool for keeping your communications discreet and professional, whether you're looping in a manager or logging emails to another system.
With Smackdab, you have two great ways to use BCC: add it to a single email on the fly, or set up a default BCC address to automatically be included in every email you send.
How to Add a BCC to a Single Email
When you just need to add a BCC for a specific message, follow these simple steps.
From the main Email page, click the Compose button.
In the email compose window, you'll see BCC on the right-hand side of the recipient lines.
Click BCC, and a new field will appear.
Type in the email address you want to secretly copy.
That's it! The email will be sent to that address, and none of the other recipients will see it.
Pro-Tip: You can also click the BCC button when replying to, forwarding, or working on a draft email.
How to Set a Default BCC Address
Want to automatically log every email you send from Smackdab? Setting up a default BCC is the perfect solution. This will automatically send a blind copy of every email to a specific address you set, like your company's universal CRM inbox.
Here’s how to set it up:
Navigate to Settings.
Under the Personal section, choose Personal Communication.
Select Email, and then click on Email Accounts.
You'll see your connected email account listed. Click on Manage BCC.
In the field provided, enter the default email address you'd like to use.
Smackdab lets you add multiple default BCC addresses, but just remember that each address must be unique. Now you can be sure a copy of every email is sent exactly where you need it, every time!
