How to Create a Custom Entity

Think of a custom entity as your very own data category that you design from the ground up.

While Smackdab comes with standard, essential entities like Deals, Contacts, Companies, and Activities, we know that every business has its own special requirements.

A custom entity allows you to build additional structures right inside Smackdab to perfectly organize and manage the data that matters most to you. It’s the ultimate way to customize your workspace and ensure Smackdab speaks your business's unique language.

How to Create a Custom Entity

  1. Click on the "Settings" module.

  2. In Settings, select "Customization," then "Entity".
    This will show you the Entities that exist in your Smackdab.

  3. To create a custom entity, click the "Add" button.
    This will open the Add Entity window.

  4. Enter the singular and plural names for the entity.

  5. Choose the entity icon and click the "Next" button.

  6. Enable or disable permissions as needed and click the "Next" button.

  7. If you need to make changes, click the "Prev" button to adjust. If no changes are needed, click "Save."

  8. After a successful save, the created entity will appear on the Entity Listing page.

  9. You can manage the entity order by dragging it up or down.

  10. To edit the entity name, click the three vertical dots on the right side of the entity name and click "Edit".

  11. To delete a custom entity, click the three vertical dots and click "Delete".
    For default Entities, you cannot delete them but their name can be edited.
