Want to treat your client consultations differently than your internal meetings? With Smackdab, you're not limited to just the standard "Activity" module for your bookings. You can create completely separate, custom event types—like "Consultations," "Product Demos," or "Strategy Sessions"—each with its own unique fields and reporting.

This powerful feature lets you organize and track your different types of appointments with precision, creating a workflow that perfectly matches your business.

How It Works: A Quick Overview

You'll simply create a new custom module (which we call a "Custom Entity") and tell Smackdab that it can be used for scheduling. Then, you can link this new event type to any of your booking pages.

Let's walk through the steps.

Step 1: Create Your Custom Event Type

First, you'll need to create the new module that will house these special bookings.

  1. Navigate to the section in your settings where you create a Custom Entity.

  2. Set up your new entity and give it a clear name (e.g., "Consultation").

  3. During the setup, you'll see a checkbox labeled "Is Event". This is the magic switch! Make sure to enable this flag. This tells Smackdab that this entity can be used for scheduling.

Once your custom event type is created, you can assign it to any of your booking pages.

  1. Go to the settings for the specific booking page you want to customize.

  2. In the "Booking Info" section, look for an option to select a "Custom Entity."

  3. Your new "Consultation" entity will now appear in the dropdown menu. Simply select it.

What Happens When Someone Books?

Now, when a customer uses this specific booking link, Smackdab will automatically create a new "Consultation" record instead of a generic "Activity" record. All their information—name, contact details, and the selected date and time—will be captured neatly within this new, dedicated module.

And don't worry, all the functionality you love still works seamlessly. Automated confirmation emails, notifications, and the options for customers to reschedule or cancel behave exactly the same as they do for standard activities. It's the perfect way to get more organized without sacrificing convenience!
