Ever wish you had a time machine for your data? With Smackdab's Restore feature, you practically do! It’s the powerful function that lets you rescue a previously deleted record from the Trash and bring it back into your CRM, good as new.
Think of it as the "undo" button for deletions. Whether it was a contact, a deal, or an important note, the Restore feature gives you the confidence to manage your data without fear of permanent loss.
Customize Your Safety Net (How to Change the Restore Duration)
Want to give your team a little more (or less) time to recover deleted items? Adjusting the retention period is a breeze.
Head to Settings: From the main navigation menu, click on Settings.
Navigate to Data Management: Under the Settings options, select Data Management.
Select Restore: Click on Restore in the Data Management section.
Set Your Timeframe: You'll see an input box for Days. Simply enter your desired number of days (between 7 and 180).
Pro Tip: The setting autosaves the moment you enter a new number, no need to look for a save button!
The Magic of Hitting 'Restore' (What It Does)
When you restore an item from the Trash, you're doing more than just recovering it. You're bringing it completely back to life!
Back in Its Place: The restored record returns to its original location in the CRM, right where you left it.
Ready for Action: It becomes fully active again, allowing you to edit, update, assign, and manage it just like any other record.
All Connections Intact: Any associated data, like notes, emails, or tasks linked to the record, comes back with it, preserving your valuable context.
The Fine Print: What You Need to Know
To make this safety net work for your team, here are a few key things to keep in mind:
The Clock is Ticking (Retention Period): Deleted items don't stay in the Trash forever! By default, you have 12 days to restore a record before it's permanently deleted.
You're in Control: This timeframe is flexible! You can adjust the retention period to be anywhere from 7 to 180 days to match your company's policy.
Permission is Key: To maintain data security, only users with the right permissions (like Admins or Managers) can restore deleted records.
The Restore feature is all about giving you greater control and peace of mind. Now you can manage your data confidently, knowing that a simple mistake doesn't have to be a permanent one.
